This comprehensive background check will be administered by the Disclosure and Barring service and is the highest level of CRB check available.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of DBS checks are to ensure children, <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/defining-a-vulnerable-adult\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vulnerable adults<\/a> and the general public are properly safeguarded. All roles which involve close contact with children or vulnerable adults require an enhanced DBS check.<\/p>\n<p>An enhanced DBS check with barred lists for a childminder will involve a full search for any <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/dbs-check-faq-videos\/what-does-unspent-mean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">unspent<\/a> or spent convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings. The DBS will also check whether there is any other non-conviction information in existence with relevant police forces and if there are any entries in the children\u2019s and\/ or the vulnerable adults barred lists.<\/p>\n<p>Any results found during the search will be displayed on the DBS certificate. If no records are found, the DBS certificate will be blank.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/faqs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">basic DBS checks<\/a>, enhanced DBS checks can only be requested by employers.
