There are four<a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/levels-of-dbs-check\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> types of DBS check<\/a> in operation across the UK. Those who work in closest contact with children and vulnerable adults are subject to the highest level check which is an enhanced DBS with barred lists.<\/p>\n<p>Your DBS check for a dentist, hygienist or auxillary will be the enhanced DBS with barred lists because of the level of engagement you will have with children and vulnerable adults in role.<\/p>\n<p>The CRB check will involve a search for any <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/dbs-check-faq-videos\/what-does-unspent-mean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">unspent<\/a> or spent convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings. The DBS will also check if there is any further non-conviction information in existence with relevant police forces or entries on the children\u2019s and vulnerable adults barred lists.<\/p>\n<p>The 1974 Rehabilitation of Offenders Act sets out the need for dentists, hygienists and auxillaries to undergo a standard DBS check.<\/p>\n<p>As a regulated healthcare professional, you have a duty to declare any convictions.
