Under the terms of the 1974 Rehabilitation of Offenders Act there are a vast range of frontline roles that must include a DBS check as part of the vetting procedure for recruits.<\/p>\n<p>There are four <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/levels-of-dbs-check\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">types of DBS checks<\/a> in operation in the UK. The lowest level check is reserved for those who have limited engagement with children and vulnerable adults when carrying out their role, whilst those who engage in close contact are subject the most robust search.<\/p>\n<p>The four types of DBS checks are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basic DBS<\/li>\n<li>Standard DBS<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced DBS<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced DBS with barring lists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/faqs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">basic DBS check<\/a> for personnel is a low level DBS check which will cover any unspent <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/criminal-convictions-and-dbs-checks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">criminal convictions<\/a> or conditional cautions.
