A basic DBS check is carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service and involves a search to see if you have any unspent <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/criminal-convictions-and-dbs-checks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">criminal convictions<\/a> or conditional cautions.<\/p>\n<p>There are four types of DBS checks in operation in the UK:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a basic DBS check<\/li>\n<li>a standard DBS check<\/li>\n<li>an enhanced DBS check<\/li>\n<li>an enhanced DBS check with barring lists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each check requires a different depth of search. The 1974 Rehabilitation of Offenders sets out the degree of CRB check needed for each frontline role included in the act.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DBS check<\/a> for a radio broadcaster falls into the first level of DBS checks so you will only need a basic DBS check.<\/p>\n<p>A basic DBS check for a radio broadcaster will involve a search for any <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/dbs-check-faq-videos\/what-does-unspent-mean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">unspent<\/a> criminal convictions or conditional cautions.
