Your regulatory body, the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) will also need this check to be conducted.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/enhanced-dbs-checks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">enhanced DBS check<\/a> for a social worker will involve a search for any <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/dbs-check-faq-videos\/what-does-unspent-mean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">unspent<\/a> or spent convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings. The DBS will also check if there is any further non-conviction information in existence with relevant police forces or entries on the children\u2019s and vulnerable adults <a href=\"https:\/\/crbdirect.org.uk\/dbs-check-faq-videos\/what-is-a-barred-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">barred lists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The need for DBS checks is set out in the 1974 Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
