Unfortunately, errors and missing paperwork can mean background screening can become time-consuming and laborious for a business.<\/p>\n<p>The following is an overview of the documentation needed for a DBS Check and the scrutiny that businesses and organisations should carry out before requesting a disclosure.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Group 1 and 2 Documents<\/h2>\n<p>Documents are broken down into two groups which are Group 1 and Group 2. These are outset as follows.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Group 1 - Primary Identification Documentation<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Passport<\/li>\n<li>Driving Licence<\/li>\n<li>Birth Certificate<\/li>\n<li>Adoptions Certificate<\/li>\n<li>Biometric Residence Card<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Group 2a - Official Government Documentation<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Birth Certificate<\/li>\n<li>Paper Driving Licence<\/li>\n<li>Marriage or Civil Partnership Certificate<\/li>\n<li>HM Forces ID Card<\/li>\n<li>Firearms Licence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Group 2b - Social and Financial History Documents<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Credit Card Statement<\/li>\n<li>Bank Statement<\/li>\n<li>Mortgage Statement<\/li>\n<li>P45<\/li>\n<li>P60<\/li>\n<li>Council Tax Statement<\/li>\n<li>Work Permit or Visa<\/li>\n<li>National Identity Card<\/li>\n<li>Government Entitled Document<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is also additional infromation that may be required. For example, those who have lived at several addresses will need to provide these details. If a person has been known by another name in the past, then this information will also need to be provided.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Requesting a Basic DBS Check<\/h2>\n<p>Basic DBS Checks can be carried out by the individual or the business, and require one form of primary documentation, like a driving licence and a document which shows the individual\u2019s home address. A Basic DBS Check will only show details of unspent convictions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Requesting Standard and Enhanced DBS Checks<\/h2>\n<p>Standard and Enhanced DBS Checks are completed using the same criteria, despite there being differences in the information shown. To apply for a Standard or Enhanced DBS Check, a person needs to provide a primary document from Group 1, and two supporting documents from the other groups.<\/p>\n<p>If a person is unable to provide primary identification documents, then one document from Group 2a will be needed, in addition to two other documents from Group 2a or 2b.<\/p>\n<p>A Standard DBS Check will show spent and unspent convictions, plus details about cautions and reprimands. Those requesting an Enhanced DBS Check can also check the person\u2019s name against the Children\u2019s and Adults Barred List.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Ensuring DBS Checks Are Completed Quickly<\/h2>\n<p>Given how much work there is to ensure DBS Checks can be requested as soon as possible, businesses will want to ensure they receive results quickly.
